Strange Formations Discovered with Google Earth
Submitted by UFO Guy on Sun, 02/25/2007 - 07:56.
A strange series of formations have been spotted in Brazil, using Google Earth.
"This is not an actual sighting, but an interesting location I found in Brazil using Google Earth contains some VERY unusual aircraft images.
Some observations:
The three aircraft on the right appear to be partially buried, or maybe partly excavated. The site is extremely remote, no buildings around the site.
I know of no aircraft in service now that has the exact design of the 2 "real" objects on the left.
Strange Crossbow Structure
Completely baffled by the design of the crossbow structure. The lines are not perfectly straight, indicating a crude architectural plan, or maybe a rushed job.
The airstrip is military, indicated by 2 fighters ready for takeoff.
The "purple" foliage and water. Is it chemical or radioactive?
Hope you find this as intriguing as I have!"

The arms of the bow are cleared lines of sight that allow the impact point of bombs to be seen, and sighted with some sort of sighting telescope or surveyor's transit. You can the see the observation towers at each end of the bow. Since the lines of sight are at an angle to each other, simple triangulation can determine the impact point of the bomb pretty accurately, allowing the bombing exercises to be scored. The "strings" are roads between the observation points and /or cleared routes for signal lines to capture the readings from the towers and bring them to a central point for recording.
The two aircraft on the left look like Northrop F-5 Tigers. Probably targets to
I think the crossbow shape is actually a bombing target. The target is at the center of the "bow" - you can zoom in and see the target circle.

Why are the legs of the bow so long? Well, how close would YOU want to get to where student pilots are learning how to aim bombs!?
